Huskies are born wanderers. Losses are common. Emotions run high when one of them ‘disappears’, and there are no easy solutions to enhance the chances of recovery.
Here are a few of the databases you can search.
Lost and Found Siberian Huskies (siberrescue.com)
FACEBOOK Arizona & New Mexico
It’s important to know that large municipalities receive large numbers of pets yearly. Maricopa county, a Phoenix shelter system, estimates that of the 28,000 pets collected in the course of a year, 65% are estimated to be LOST animals.
To search these databases, you must go to 24petconnect.com [The replacement for what was ‘PetHarbor.Com]’ and put in the zip codes of those areas that you want to search.
PAWBOOST.COM works in a similar way — Click PAWBOOST and then put it the dog (or cat) and the distance you want to search. Be sure to SCROLL DOWN to see the pictures.
Do avoid being breed specific as animal types and breeds are often misleading and inconclusive. Do click the largest area possible to search because lost pets can wander many miles whilst lost and can also be picked up and moved by humans along the way.
By registering there, you will receive a daily feed of pets new to the database, along with a lengthy list [most with pictures] of those animals that have been found.
These are listed as ‘adoptable animals’ and you may have as little as 72 hours before your pet is listed as ‘adoptable’ on these systems.
There is simply no option but to search these databases if you hope to retrieve a pet that’s been ‘turned in’ to an animal shelter.
For this reason, we encourage you to include them in your searches — including those of the ‘NoKill Shelters and Sanctuaries’ that should also be included in your efforts to locate your missing companion.
REMEMBER: YOU are your pet’s SAFETY NET and the one most motivated to find them — they cannot do this without you.
To quit is to fail in your quest to bring them home.
