Many potential adopters worry that the adoption won’t be successful for a variety of reasons — and that they won’t be able to return the pet if things don’t work out. What if the pet’s activity level is not in line with what a family expected? What if the pet’s personality doesn’t mesh with that of another family pet? A dog that cannot accept the family cat’s position, for instance, or one that finds chickens so compelling they can’t leave them alone?

Many seniors are concerned that adopting too young a pet could result in that animal outliving them — and, if they adopt an older companion animal, can they be financially blindsided by health issues they did not anticipate?

Rescue Railroad can provide assistance with alternatives to returning a pet to the shelter and will rehome any adopted animals that are in need of another placement.

Further, our team of specialized volunteers will provide services and defray vet bills wherever necessary and work to establish alternative methods of assistance in virtually any situation.
