What’s Up In Animal Rescue

It’s been a long, hot summer and rescue continues to present challenges we’ve only begun to explore!

Many rescues, sadly, are being forced to close their doors, creating an influx of animals for those of us who remain — and feed prices as well as transport fees — have only continued to escalate and seem to maintain at their highest levels.

The need, of course, is not only consistent but rising.

Fewer loving homes are available when people are losing theirs. With the ‘new arrivals’ pressing the boundaries of affordable housing, people are struggling to make ends meet and to keep their own expenses within the realm of ‘manageable’.

Shelters report facing increasing numbers due to the displacement of families that once housed them and the lack of ‘sustainable’ housing for this disenfranchised subset of society. Children are moving back home, grandparents are opening their doors to grandchildren unable to make enough to afford housing of their own.
